Are your scraps becoming a little overwhelming? Sometimes you just need a quick project to knock back that pile a bit. Or are you looking for a quick make? Some mindless sewing to get you into a zen space? This bright and simple scrappy quilt pattern from Carols Quilts might be just the thing.
This fun quilt consists of nine patch blocks made of 4 1/2 inch squares, then the blocks are separated by sashing and corner blocks. Carol has a good trick to unify all the colours and patterns that can sometimes look like a bit of a mess in scrap quilts, and another good trick with masking tape to keep track of your blocks and sashing as you are sewing.
The finished size is 43 1/2 inches square, so the perfect size for a cot quilt or play mat. You could make this scrappy quilt pattern out of brights for a play quilt, pastels for a special baby sleep quilt, I spy fabrics, black and white and red…..the list goes on. A chance to play with fabric combinations? Yes, please!
