Do you have a Local Quilt Shop, one that you can just drop into and immerse yourself in all things quilting. My Local Quilt Shop is Hetties Patch in Hindmarsh, South Australia. Why don’t you step through the front door and take a look.
It is a quick tram/bus ride from Adelaide and probably 10 minute up the road from my house. Its also easy to swing by on my way home from work and drop in for that all important reel of cotton or piece of fabric that I may have seen flash up on Facebook or Instagram.
Lorraine Lovell has created a wonderful space for quilters to come and while away an hour or two or more if you join in one of the many classes. The front of the shop is always beautifully displayed and she is lucky to have one of the most spacious class room I’ve experienced.
Hetties stocks a wide variety of fabric, including French General, Liberty, Kaffe, batiks and many other current designers. I love the fact that the shop caters for all taste. Even if you love fabric to be bold and adventurous or soft and pastel you will find something to wet your appetite and fit in perfectly with your latest quilt.
Lorraine also stocks linens and fabrics suitable for cross stitch and if you have an embroidery bent Hetties has a number of embroidery threads, including the full range of Cosmo stranded threads, a large variety of Valdani Pearl cottons as well as Aurifil in a number of weights for sewing, machine quilting and hand embroidery.
Hetties Patch have developed a number of patterns and these are available in kits ready to take home and just start sewing.
The large classroom has regular classes midweek and on the weekend specialist teachers come in to teach some of the upcoming classes are:
5th February Chris Millar Wool Applique Embroidery
27 February Judy Newman
12th and 13th of March Marg George
