How to make an Irish Chain Quilt

There is something so incredibly great about simple quilts that look awesome, especially the way that the Irish chain quilt works so perfectly. I love the nine patch because it is one of the easiest quilts to make. This process just involves a 9 patch block and a regular block and it automatically chains: easy!!

This is probably one of my favorite quilting tutorial, Jenny Doan is so lovely, and explains the process in such an endearing way. Another great thing about this tutorial is how she explains everything, and I mean literally everything. It is great, I never felt lost or behind at any part. She uses some really cool colors, and the handy tips for making your corners perfect is exactly what any quilter needs. She leaves no quilter behind!

One of our Quilting friends at The Cutting Table did a post recently about the Irish Chain Quilt, it includes some great photos on the process and an example of the colors and technique she used to finish the Irish Chain Quilt. Check it out!

Happy Quilting!

Tarnya is Quilting Focus' webmaster and a beginner quilter who hasn’t ventured much outside pre-cuts and quilting in the ditch. She is excited by modern short cut quilting techniques which makes quilting so much more achievable for those who are quite short on time. She enjoys making quilts for her children who she says do not notice mistakes and feel loved by what she makes. "I appreciate how learning and improving my quilting, cross pollinates into other creative areas of my life: for example colour, balance, proportion are important to quilting, but they are also important to web design."
