How to create a Quilt Pattern on a Cake

This is a bit of a different post, I love the idea of creating a quilt pattern on a cake. The only tools you need other than a cake of course! Is a 90 degree drafting triangle, ruler, some pins and paper. Even for someone as unadventurous as myself when it comes to baking, I think I could give this a go. It would make such a lovely special occasion cake for an avid quilter. The end result looks great, and the steps are really easy to follow, with some great verbal sparing of the couple who are designing the cake.

-Happy Quilting and possibly baking!

Tarnya is Quilting Focus' webmaster and a beginner quilter who hasn’t ventured much outside pre-cuts and quilting in the ditch. She is excited by modern short cut quilting techniques which makes quilting so much more achievable for those who are quite short on time. She enjoys making quilts for her children who she says do not notice mistakes and feel loved by what she makes. "I appreciate how learning and improving my quilting, cross pollinates into other creative areas of my life: for example colour, balance, proportion are important to quilting, but they are also important to web design."

  1. Very clever, I do mine with a steel wire but this looks a lot easier to manage!
