This is the fourth Australian Machine Quilting Festival (AMQ) since 2010, it is held in the Adelaide Convention Centre which is a fantastic facility centrally located on the banks of the River Torrens in the heart of Adelaide. This year the Festival will be held 25th to 28th of August.
The AMQ Festival is a hands-on educational show for all machine quilters.
There are 22 teachers featuring both Australian Quilting identities and International teachers. This years special invited teachers are Mark Lipinski and Bethanne Nemesh from the USA and Claudia Pfeil from Germany. There are 92 classes on offer showcasing both National and Internationally accredited tutors specializing in machine quilting and sewing.
Each Festival features a Vendor Mall for class participants as well as general public to come and purchase all things Machine Quilting and this year will be no exception. There are 40 vendor booths and free demonstrations from experts in the field.
Online registration for classes begins at 12.01am on March the 14th so you need to be quick if you think this might be your ideal next holiday destination.
There is a quilt show run in conjunction with the Festival and closing dates for entries are 30 June for the Minda Benefit Quilt Challenge and 1st July for AMQA Quilt Show entries.
The AMQ Festival also has a number of Accommodation Partners with packages so that you can stay close to the Festival and make the easy walk to the venue.
Tracey Browning the Festival Director has kindly provided photos from past festivals to wet your appetite. It is well worth a visit to our fair city and of course there are things to do other than quilting when you get here for your significant others to keep them busy while you are learning from the experts.
